About

Health and Physical Education

The program combines the resources and experience of Tula State University in physical education and sports, medicine, information technology, and management. We train specialists who can work in sports clubs and schools, healthcare, education, government agencies, and conduct specialized training for law enforcement officers.

Developing personalized fitness plans, rehabilitation after injuries and surgeries, organizing classes for children with special needs, integrating phygital sports into the curriculum, and preventing occupational diseases are just some of the tasks our students learn to address.

More than 80% of our graduates find employment in their field. You can choose any career path from fitness trainer to rehabilitation specialist and work in a sports school, a medical center, government agencies, or, for example, the Russian National Guard. But most importantly, you will become a specialist who helps people stay healthy and active, work productively, and achieve their goals.

Training

Education begins with mastering general education subjects and specialized foundation-level subjects, progressing from anatomy and biochemistry to initial training. Students gain an understanding of the musculoskeletal system, the processes occurring in the body, and how it responds to stress. First-year students also learn the basic techniques of various sports (skiing, track and field, gymnastics), visit sports and rehabilitation centers, and participate in roundtable discussions with physical education and sports experts.

In the second year, you'll experience more hands-on training, developing physical training programs for different groups and creating lesson plans. Students participate in organizing the "Ski Track of Russia" and "Tula Marathon" races, school sports competitions, and volunteer projects.

In the third year, advanced specialization begins, focusing on specific areas. The curriculum includes extensive laboratory and practical work conducted in the biomechanics laboratory, the Tula State University Medical Institute, the sports clinic, the rehabilitation center of the Tula Regional Clinical Hospital, and fitness centers. Students work with equipment and exercise machines, independently conducting classes and training sessions.

The fourth year is dedicated to launching their own projects based on a scientific approach. Students choose a topic of interest and conduct research at a fitness club, rehabilitation center, or school. Representatives from employers—the Minister of Sports of the Tula Region, directors of sports schools, and the region's chief rehabilitation specialist—are invited to present their projects, which conclude the program.

Examples of projects (graduation theses) by our graduates that have been implemented by client organizations:

  • Physical training of airborne troops with a focus on VT-4 military multi-event exercises;
  • The impact of the "Split Fitness" system on the physical fitness of overweight women aged 30-40;
  • Organizational and methodological conditions for teaching sabre fencing to children aged 10-12 with cerebral palsy;

Students choose one of 18 areas (sports) and are assigned to a mentor — a coach or teacher. Interns work with simple fitness gadgets (heart rate monitors, pedometers) and are involved in teaching and training sessions.

In subsequent years, you will complete coaching, organizational, professionally oriented, and pedagogical internships. The pre-graduation internship focuses on working on a final project.

Students can choose their own internship location or from our list of partners, which includes more than 40 organizations in Tula and the surrounding region.
